Understanding Your First Bell Mobility Bill

Your first Bell Mobility bill is a little different than future bills because it includes some one-time only charges. To help you understand how everything adds up, let's look at a typical first bill.

In this example, the activation date is August 30th, with a billing date of the 4th of every month.

  1. Account Information

    This section includes:

    • Bill date - Your wireless bill is generated each month, with a complete breakdown of your charges. The account balance is due in full upon receipt or by the specified due date. If payment is late, a 2% late payment charge will apply to any outstanding balance.
    • Mobile Number- You'll need your mobile number (or account number) to use the IVR (Interactive Voice Response system). Through the IVR you can make payments, check your account balance, and make changes to your account.
    • Account Number - You'll need your 9-digit account number (or mobile number) to make payments and to confirm your account when speaking with a customer service representative.
    • 14-Digit Client ID Number - Use the Client Identification Number to make payments through internet or telephone banking, and to manage your account online.

  2. Account Summary

This section summarizes your current charges, including:

    • Monthly charges
    • Other charges and credits
    • Usage and long distance
    • Total taxes on current charges
    • Breakdown of taxes
    • Total amount due and specific due date

On future bills, the Account Summary page will show the previous balance, payments made and any late payment charges applied to the account since the previous bill. Each type of charge is explained below.

  3. Monthly charges

This section of your bill lists monthly charges for rate plans and features which are billed one month in advance. You'll see the name of your rate plan and the features you've chosen, as well as the term (e.g. 24M which indicates a 24 month term contract). In this example, if your bill date is the 4th, monthly charges will be from the 4th of this month to the 3rd of the next month.

In addition, you'll see a monthly System Access Fee and a monthly e9-1-1 Fee. The System Access Fee is charged monthly by all major wireless providers and covers the costs associated with operating and maintaining a network. The e9-1-1 fee covers the costs of providing wireless access to e9-1-1 service.

  4. Other charges and credits

This section details monthly charges and credits that have been applied to your account, but only for the time between the date you activated your service and your bill date. These charges include:

    • Connection Charge
    • System Access Fee & e9-1-1 fee
    • All features requested
    • Rate plan
    • Any promotional features or airtime

For an explanation of partial monthly charges, please refer to the example below.

If an account is activated on the 30th and the bill date is the 4th, charges will appear for these 5 days.

Charge:Package or feature monthly charge ÷ 30 × number of days the package or feature was active.
$35 monthly rate plan / 30 calendar days = $1.16 - this establishes the daily breakdown
$1.16 daily cost of rate plan x 4 days (activation date to billing date) = $4.67
Credit:Package or feature recurring charge ÷ 30 × number of days remaining from the time of the cancellation until the next bill date.
Usage:Included minutes ÷ 30 × number of days the package or feature was active

This also applies to features, usage, long distance and data.

  5. Usage and long distance

Additional usage charges are incurred on any services you use outside of those included in your regular monthly rate plan and are billed for the previous month.

    Examples include:

  6. For your information

This section provides a summary of your total usage for the month, highlighting:

    • Any Discounts you may have received for the month
    • Your Usage Summary, which tracks your monthly usage on weekdays, weeknights and weekends. Applicable discounts received for the month. Although you may have chosen a rate plan and/or feature where your unlimited evening coverage begins at 6 p.m., your usage summary calculation is based on an 8 p.m. clock.
    • An Event Summary of the total number of text messaging and download events completed on your mobile phone.
    • Your Packet Plan Usage Summary, which shows the total volume of data (measured in megabytes)
