Bell is introducing changes to our basic long distance rates. The changes affect the rates you pay if you don't subscribe to a long distance plan, or if you make calls that aren't covered by your plan. These changes also impact collect, bill to third party and some operator-assisted calls.

• Off-peak calling rates will now be 50% off regular rates. Off-peak calling is from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. Monday to Friday and on weekends.
• Customers who do not subscribe to a Bell long distance plan will pay a $1.25 Long Distance Network Connection Fee on the first long distance call placed each month. If no long distance calls are made during the month, there will be no charge.
• To offset the effect of these changes on the weighted average rates paid by Teletypewriter (TTY) users and customers using Bell Relay Service (BRS), the Long distance discount for TTY teletypewriter users will increase from 50% to 60% and the discount will be extended to Canada-U.S. calling.
